Actress Showcases Bold Fall Fashion at Glossy Pop Event While Reynolds Premieres John Candy Documentary in Toronto
Blake Lively embraced fall’s sheer fashion trend with confidence at a beauty event in New York City on Friday, September 5, while her husband, Ryan Reynolds, was across the border attending the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The Gossip Girl alum, 38, arrived at the Glossy Pop N.Y.C. event at the Fashion Institute of Technology wearing a striking chocolate brown ensemble. Her look featured a fully sheer chainmail top paired with a matching pleated skirt, a tailored blazer, and knee-high suede boots adorned with button details. Lively accessorized with a geometric clutch and styled her blonde hair in loose, side-swept waves.
The event, held at FIT’s Katie Murphy Amphitheater, spotlighted “Reimagining Premium Haircare: From Accessibility to Routine,” featuring Lively’s own passion project—her beauty and haircare brand, Blake Brown, which launched earlier this year. On Instagram, the actress gave a heartfelt nod to friend and Megababe founder Katie Sturino, who attended in support. “This is what girls lifting each other up looks like,” Lively wrote, praising Sturino as both a founder and a friend.
Since its 2024 debut, Blake Brown has expanded with products including a hair and body mist line. Reynolds, 48, has proudly endorsed the brand, revealing his favorite scent is Wild Nectar Sandal. Lively playfully shared that while she assumed he was just being supportive, her husband “genuinely loves to wear them,” calling the mists “yummy and sexy.”
Meanwhile, Reynolds was in Toronto on September 4 for the TIFF premiere of John Candy: I Like Me, a documentary he co-produced about the beloved Canadian comedian. The film, set to stream on Prime Video beginning October 10, features rare interviews with Candy’s friends and collaborators, including Steve Martin and Macaulay Culkin.
The couple’s separate public appearances come shortly after Lively’s spokesperson refuted recent claims by former Fox News host Megyn Kelly. On August 29, Kelly alleged that Lively’s legal team had issued her a subpoena in connection to the actress’s ongoing legal dispute with Justin Baldoni. A representative for Lively denied the claim, clarifying: “At no point in this litigation has Ms. Lively served a subpoena on Megyn Kelly.”
Despite the legal noise, Lively’s New York appearance and Reynolds’ Toronto premiere highlight the couple’s busy and successful fall season—balancing Hollywood, fashion, and entrepreneurship with ease.
