Pete Davidson Celebrates ‘Dream Come True’ as He Prepares for Fatherhood

Pete Davidson has long been known for his comedic brilliance, heartfelt performances, and high-profile relationships. Now, he’s embracing the role he’s been dreaming about for years: fatherhood.

The former Saturday Night Live star and his girlfriend, model and actress Elsie Hewitt, are expecting their first child together. The news was announced on July 16, when Hewitt shared a carousel of photos on Instagram featuring a sonogram, setting off a wave of excitement from fans and fellow celebrities.

“Everybody’s just been superexcited for me because they know it’s been my dream,” Davidson told E! News. “I’m very lucky and very, very happy.”

A Long-Held Dream Comes True

The 30-year-old comedian has spoken openly about wanting to become a father, especially following the loss of his own dad in the 9/11 attacks when Davidson was just seven years old. In a 2022 interview on Hart to Heart with Kevin Hart, he called having a kid his “favorite thing ever” — a personal milestone he had yet to achieve.

“My favorite thing ever, which I have yet to achieve, I wanna have a kid,” he said at the time. “It’s like, super corny, [but] it would be so fun. Dress up the little dude. I’m so excited for that chapter.”

Now that the chapter is becoming reality, Davidson is embracing it with emotional depth and maturity. “Being able to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn’t have,” he said. “I assume you just try to give them what you didn’t have, and what you didn’t like, not do it.”

Among the first to offer advice was fellow comedian and former SNL legend Adam Sandler, who has two daughters with wife Jackie Sandler. Davidson revealed Sandler’s guidance has been especially meaningful. “They all just have been like, ‘You’re going to be great at this. It’s the best thing you’ll ever do in your life,’” he said.

Davidson and Hewitt have been publicly linked since March 2025. The couple has made a handful of appearances together, including courtside at New York Knicks games and at musician Dave Navarro’s wedding in Scotland. Their relationship marks a new chapter of stability and intention for Davidson, who has previously acknowledged the downsides of life in the spotlight.

From Oversaturation to Purpose

In a December 2024 interview with W Magazine, Davidson admitted to feeling “oversaturated” due to intense media scrutiny over his romantic life. “When you’re first coming up, and getting all these offers, it’s hard to say no, because you’re hungry. I made the mistake of doing literally everything. Now I’m older and wiser, and I’m realizing that less is more.”

He emphasized his desire to be known for “good work” and not for his personal relationships. “I want to be out there only when it’s a movie, stand-up, charity, or business ventures,” he explained. “That’s when I want to be seen. I don’t want to be this f—ing loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am.”
