Tate McRae Laughs Off Double Wardrobe Malfunction as Shoes Fly Off Twice in Edmonton Show

Singer Laughs Off Onstage Shoe Fiascos, Proving the Show Must Go On

The “Greedy” singer turns onstage mishaps into unforgettable moments during her Miss Possessive Tour stop in her home province of Alberta.

Tate McRae proved that nothing can shake her stage presence — not even losing her shoes mid-performance.

During her Miss Possessive Tour stop at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Canada, on Thursday, Aug. 7, the 22-year-old “Greedy” singer experienced not one, but two onstage wardrobe malfunctions involving her footwear.

In the first incident, captured by fans on TikTok during her performance of “Exes,” McRae kicked her foot mid-choreography, sending her black heel flying off the stage. Looking down in surprise, she turned to the crowd and exclaimed into her microphone: “What the f—?” Without missing a beat, she removed her remaining heel and tossed it away, smiling as she continued dancing barefoot with her backup dancers. “Jesus Christ,” she quipped, before seamlessly jumping back into the routine.

But the shoe drama didn’t stop there. In another clip from the same Edmonton show, McRae lost a white shoe in a similar fashion, once again sending it into the crowd mid-performance. This time, she stopped the music, laughing as she told the audience, “Hold on, f— the music. I need to put my shoes back on.” Realizing the shoe was missing, she joked, “Who took them? No, one sec!” before running offstage to retrieve it.

When she returned, McRae playfully addressed the crowd: “Okay, we got it back together. Sorry about the malfunction, guys. This always seems to happen to me in Alberta. Hometown curse, I guess.”

The Calgary native’s lighthearted handling of the mishaps drew cheers from fans, reinforcing her reputation for authenticity and quick wit.

McRae’s Edmonton performance comes shortly after personal headlines involving her now ex-boyfriend, Australian rapper The Kid LAROI. On July 25, the 21-year-old artist appeared to confirm their split via X, denying involvement in alleged negative posts about McRae. The two had sparked romance rumors in early 2024 and seemingly confirmed their relationship in April, when LAROI referred to McRae as “my girlfriend” during a concert.

Despite the recent breakup and back-to-back onstage slip-ups, McRae continues to bring high energy to her tour, proving that even a “hometown curse” can’t keep her from delivering a memorable show.
